Matthew E. Auger, Director

Honors and Awards:

Matthew E. Auger handles serious personal injury cases, including wrongful death claims, automobile collisions, slip and falls, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence and product liability.  He has handled numerous complex commercial tax appeals, insurance coverage disputes, including bad faith claims, and commercial litigation.  He has successfully tried cases in Connecticut state and federal courts.

Mr. Auger was admitted to the Connecticut State and Federal Court bars in 1988. He was educated at Georgetown University (B.A., 1980, cum laude). Mr. Auger received his law degree from The State University of New York at Buffalo in 1984, where he received the distinguished Birzon Evidence Award.

Mr. Auger is certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.  He has also received recognition as a Connecticut and New England Super Lawyer.  Mr. Auger serves as a Connecticut Superior Court Special Master and Attorney Trial Referee and as a Special Master in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.

Mr. Auger is a member of the New London County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice.  He served as the President of the New London County Bar Association (1996-1997) and as a member of the Board of Governors for the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association (2000-present).  He has lectured on trial technique and personal injury subjects with the New London County Bar Association and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association.

Mr. Auger is a Captain in the Judge Advocate General Corps of the United States Naval Reserve.  He served on active duty from 1984 -1988 and continues as a reservist.  He provides legal assistance to active duty military members, retired members and their dependants at the Naval Submarine Base New London.  He has served as a hearing officer in numerous Article 32, UCMJ proceedings.

Mr. Auger has volunteered as a coach of youth softball, basketball and soccer teams in the Ledyard Parks and Recreation programs and served as a board member with the Southeastern Connecticut Chapter of MADD.
