“Benchmark Plaintiff” Again Names Suisman Shapiro One of Eight “Highly Recommended” Firms in the State of Connecticut

10/29/2013

Suisman Shapiro Attorneys at Law has again been named by the publishers of Benchmark Plaintiff, the definitive guide to America’s leading plaintiff litigation firms and attorneys, as one of eight “highly recommended” firms in the state of Connecticut. Additionally, five of the firm’s attorneys have been honored as “local litigation stars,” including:

  • James Berryman for Labor/Employment
  • John Collins III for Insurance, Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice
  • Lawrence Greenberg for Commercial Litigation

Below is an excerpt from Benchmark Plaintiff’s editorial regarding Suisman Shapiro‘s selection:

The largest firm in eastern Connecticut, New London-based Suisman Shapiro has a long history of excellence handling plaintiffs’ claims involving personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, asbestos, commercial matters, insurance and admiralty and maritime law. The firm also maintains an aggressive criminal defense practice and actively handles all types of business and commercial real estate transactions. Outside of its strong reputation for litigation, Suisman Shapiro is widely known for its attentiveness to the communities of eastern Connecticut, consistently participating in fundraisers, sponsorships, donations and scholarships. One competitor describes the firm’s litigators as “an extremely classy bunch.” More recently, John Collins III is recognized for obtaining extraordinary verdicts and settlements for clients, including $10 million for a baby burned in a school fire and $1 million for a victim of sexual abuse. Other attorneys recognized by peers include James Berryman and Lawrence Greenberg.

The research methodology behind Benchmark Plaintiff includes rankings covering all 50 states. The guide’s results are the culmination of a four-month research period that allowed researchers to conduct extensive interviews with litigators and their clients. During these interviews they examined recent casework handled by the firms and asked sources to offer their professional opinions on litigators practicing within their state or national practice areas.

“Highly recommended” firms received the most mentions, and were held as dominant in their particular jurisdiction. The list of “local litigation stars” for each state reflects only those individuals who were recommended consistently as reputable and effective litigators by clients and peers.

Benchmark is published annually by Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC.
