Suisman Shapiro Represents Three Victims of the Middletown Kleen Energy Plant Explosion

Three workers who were injured in the explosion of the Kleen Energy Power Plant in Middletown, Connecticut have asked Suisman Shapiro Attorneys at Law to represent them. Initial investigation has centered on workers’ compensation benefits for the injured workers in a claim against some of the subcontractors. The clients were employed as pipefitters and steamfitters by O & G Industries of Torrington, Connecticut, a contractor for Kleen Energy.

The Middletown explosion took place on Sunday, February 7, 2010. Initial focus is upon the concentration of gas during the purging of natural gas pipelines inside the power building. Gas may have collected adjacent to the building where workers were positioned. Five persons were killed and at least 12 injured in the Middletown explosion.

Another concern is the hours and stress the workers were under. The Kleen Energy power plant was scheduled to open in May or June in Middletown. Some workers were putting in 90 hours a week.

Investigators from the State Police, OSHA and the US Chemical and Safety Board have interviewed the survivors and obtained written statements. Their findings will help to determine the best course of action to follow.
