Matthew Auger Assists the Town of Montville to Secure $5 Million Grant for Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements and Renovations

3/12/2013

Montville Town Attorney, Matthew Auger of Suisman Shapiro, working with State Senator Andrea Stillman, Montville Town officials, Rand Whitney representatives and State of Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection staff ("CT DEEP"), successfully secured a $5 million grant towards improvements and renovations at the Montville wastewater treatment plant. The grant will be administered by CT DEEP.

The bulk of the funds will pay for the design and construction of an anaerobic digestor that will treat effluent from the Rand-Whitney linerboard facility. Once completed, the new system will increase significantly the treatment capacity at the plant, reduce greatly operational expenses, provide for a "greener" environment and promote Town wide economic expansion opportunities.

The project results from a truly collaborative effort by the Town, the State of Connecticut and Rand Whitney. Attorney Auger thanks all persons involved for the patience and cooperative spirit that permitted this endeavor to succeed.
