These 3 construction site tips can help prevent injuries

On Behalf of | Oct 9, 2019 | Workers' Compensation

If you’re a construction worker, then you know that the work you do can be very dangerous. If you’re not cautious, a normal day at work can result in accidents and injuries.

The good thing is that there are many different safety tips and protocols that workers and their employers can use to keep themselves safe on the job. From wearing the right safety gear to working in safe weather conditions, there are many effective ways to reduce the likelihood of injuries taking place. Here are three tips that you may want to keep in mind.

1. Tether objects that could fall

It is typically a good idea to tether any objects that you’re using above ground level. For example, if you’ll be working on the second floor of a property, you should tether your hammer, drill and other tools to prevent them from dropping to the ground below. Doing so can significantly reduce the chances of someone suffering a blow to the head from a falling object.

2. Use ladders correctly

Another important tip is to use your ladder correctly. If you plan to use a ladder, make sure it has stable grounding. You should also keep three points of contact on the ladder while moving up or down.

3. Always check your equipment

Finally, remember to check your equipment and to make sure it’s in good shape before you use it. If there is rust or other damage, get your tools, machinery or other gear repaired before using it.

These are three tips to help you prevent injuries at a worksite. With some precautions, you can increase the likelihood of going home safely.
