Teen hospitalized after getting pinned in parking lot crash

On Behalf of | Dec 6, 2018 | Personal Injury

Personal injuries can happen almost any time and anywhere. They’re particularly shocking when they involve pedestrians and vehicles. Pedestrians don’t have any protection against the weight of a vehicle. Even at slow speeds, pedestrians can be badly hurt if they’re pinned or struck by a vehicle.

A serious collision occurred in Connecticut when a high school student was pinned between two vehicles. The Dec. 5 report states that the incident, which happened at around 7:18 a.m., occurred because a vehicle backed up into the pedestrian.

The 16-year-old female had been walking near a parked vehicle. When the other vehicle backed up, it pinned her there between them. She had to be rushed to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center for serious injuries. Fortunately, she is expected to recover from the injuries she suffered.

This is one kind of collision that should be easy to avoid. Watching a rearview mirror or backup camera makes it possible to know if someone is behind you when you’re moving your vehicle. Failing to do so can cause incidents like this, which could, in the worst-case scenarios, kill those who are struck.

If you are hit by a moving vehicle because a driver was not paying attention or because they violated a traffic law, you have a right to seek a claim. The right claim could help you recover your losses from having to go to the hospital or through medical care. Claims may also cover losses such as missed time from work, missed opportunities in school and others. It’s important to begin your claim right away.
