Driver’s DUI leads to 3-vehicle crash

On Behalf of | Jan 31, 2019 | Personal Injury

Car crashes can result in some unusual circumstances that make it hard to reach patients. For instance, a car that rolls down a hill could be damaged, which might lead to difficulties opening the doors. Other vehicles might end up suspended above the ground, which can make it extremely dangerous to move any part of the vehicle.

Victims need care as soon as possible, but it’s clear to see why it can take longer than expected in some cases. For example, this case out of New London describes a situation where one vehicle was left partially suspended in the air after it got stuck on the wires of a telephone pole.

According to the story, a black SUV ended up with its front end suspended around 10 feet in the air after being involved in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Boulder Drive and Jefferson Avenue.

Two other vehicles had minor damage and were parked nearby. The driver of the SUV, 41, was reportedly uninjured. The other drivers did not report injuries at the scene, but the SUV’s driver did end up with charges for a DUI.

If the others involved in the collision do develop symptoms of whiplash or other delayed-onset injuries, the driver who caused the accident could be held liable. Drivers who cause crashes are also typically liable for damage to other vehicles and property, whether it’s a pole or other structure that needs to be replaced.

If you’re hurt or have delayed symptoms after a crash, go to the hospital. It’s your right to hold the person who caused the crash responsible.
