Man arrested after accusations of fleeing scene of fatal crash

On Behalf of | Aug 22, 2019 | Personal Injury

Tragedy can strike at any time, and a person’s actions can cause a loss of life. One horrible situation is a hit-and-run accident. In those cases, a driver hits a person or vehicle and then flees, leaving those who may be hurt or dying without any assistance.

That happened in this case out of Uxbridge, Connecticut. According to the court prosecutor, the 39-year-old man who is a suspect in the case took steps to have his vehicle repaired instead of coming forward with information about the case.

The Sutton Police responded to the accident, the assistant district attorney said, when a call came in about a man laying in a front yard without a shoe. When the emergency team arrived, he was already deceased. He had remnants of white paint on his clothing, and the debris at the scene had a series of numbers that identified the type of car that had hit him. Through this, the police were able to locate the defendant, who had previously been involved in accidents where he’d left the scene.

The man, now held on $250,000 in bail, has been ordered not to drive, to avoid contact with the victim’s family and to wear a GPS monitor. He has pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of the crash that took the life of a 51-year-old man who was running when he was hit and killed on Singletary Avenue.
