The Sutton Police responded to the accident, the assistant district attorney said, when a call came in about a man laying in a front yard without a shoe. When the emergency team arrived, he was already deceased. He had remnants of white paint on his clothing, and the debris at the scene had a series of numbers that identified the type of car that had hit him. Through this, the police were able to locate the defendant, who had previously been involved in accidents where he’d left the scene.
The man, now held on $250,000 in bail, has been ordered not to drive, to avoid contact with the victim’s family and to wear a GPS monitor. He has pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of the crash that took the life of a 51-year-old man who was running when he was hit and killed on Singletary Avenue.
