Suisman Shapiro Highlights Its Commitment to Connecticut Municipalities at CCM Convention Held at Mohegan Sun

Suisman Shapiro’s Municipal Law Department attended the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) Annual Convention on December 2 at Mohegan Sun. Each fall, more than 1,200 attendees—including local government leaders from across the state and companies providing innovative products and services to Connecticut’s towns and cities—come together for two days of informative workshops, interactive discussions, and valuable networking opportunities. CCM is the state’s largest nonpartisan organization of municipal leaders, representing 168 member municipalities of every size and region.

Suisman Shapiro hosted a booth at the trade show, where the team enjoyed meeting attendees, chatting with local leaders, and sharing information about the firm’s municipal services. The booth quickly became a popular stop thanks to the branded chip clips and snacks—always a welcome treat during a busy convention day.

CCM works year-round to improve everyday life for residents across Connecticut by sharing best practices, providing objective research to support sound local governance, advocating at the state level, and leveraging collective buying power to reduce costs for communities.

Suisman Shapiro supports that mission by helping municipalities with their legal needs and providing effective representation to towns and cities throughout the state, as well as to many nonprofit and corporate clients. Our public sector attorneys counsel municipalities and their boards and commissions on administrative tax appeals, construction contracts, freedom of information, zoning, land use, and other matters before local, state, and federal agencies and courts. Suisman Shapiro attorneys currently serve, either as Town Attorney, Land Use Counsel, and/or Labor and Employment Counsel, for several municipalities and quasi-municipal entities, including Brooklyn, Canterbury, Chaplin, Groton (Town), Lyme, Norwich, North Stonington, Old Lyme, Plainfield, Sprague, Voluntown, Waterford, and Windham.

We also represent public sector agencies such as the Housing Authority of the City of New London, the Jewett City Department of Public Utilities, the Northeastern Connecticut Transit District, and the Southeastern and Northeastern Connecticut Councils of Government and others.

Suisman Shapiro is committed to supporting effective local governance and strengthening the communities we serve. Our team values opportunities like the CCM Convention to connect with local leaders, stay informed on emerging issues, and continue delivering trusted, practical legal guidance to towns and cities statewide.
