Suisman Shapiro Sponsors 33rd Annual Jack O’Keefe Memorial Strides Road Race to Benefit The Arc of New London County
Suisman Shapiro was a sponsor of the 33rd Annual Jack O’Keefe Memorial Strides Road Race held at Camp Harkness in Waterford, Connecticut on Sunday, October 3, 2010. The yearly event benefits The Arc of New London County. More than 350 runners and walkers participated in the race, which brought in $18,000 to support respite, community activities and sports programs for people with disabilities.
Attorney Robert Tukey of Suisman Shapiro has served on the board of The Arc of New London County for the past six years, and is also a past President.
The Arc of New London County is a non-profit organization governed by its volunteer members. Founded in 1952 by families looking for opportunities for their children, The Arc today serves over 400 individuals of all ages, offering advocacy, employment opportunities, life skills training, recreation, residences and person-centered, community based services.
In partnership with national, state, and local chapters, The Arc of New London County is a powerful advocacy force for full inclusion of people with intellectual related disabilities here in Southeastern Connecticut.
