Suisman Shapiro Sponsors Little League Night at The Waterford Speedbowl
Spring has sprung and towns all across New London County have begun little league games. America’s pastime will make its annual visit again this year to the Waterford Speedbowl as it turns from an action packed NASCAR track into a field of dreams for its Home Run Derby as part of the Suisman Shapiro Little League Night on Saturday, May 15.
In an effort to make this event a real hit, the Waterford Speedbowl will be offering any and all youth in a little league jersey free admission into the grandstands for the entire night. New for 2010, any local little league team that wishes to participate in special events during the night are asked to contact the track [email protected] or by calling 1-860.442.1585. Some of these special events include singing the National Anthem, giving the command to start engines, handing out trophies to the winners in victory lane, and more.
Returning this season will be the Beaver Bat Home Run Derby where 10 drivers, along with 10 randomly selected youth in little league jerseys, will form two teams that will battle it out for yearlong bragging rights as the best bowl sluggers. A home run derby with NASCAR racing is by far a home run among drivers, fans, and especially youth. The 10 selected players will receive a custom bat from Beaver Bats. Race cars will also be on display along the midway for youth to get up close and take photos with the mighty machines. Parents, don’t forget to bring your camera!

Grandstand Admission for this event is $14 for adults, youth (14-6) $5, FREE IF WEARING LITTLE LEAGUE JERSEY, and 5 and under is always FREE! Grandstands open at 3pm, qualifying begins at 5pm, with home run derby at 6:30, and feature racing to follow at approximately 7:00pm. The Speedbowl encourages all youth in little league jerseys to arrive at 5pm (a parent or legal guardian must accompany youth). Advanced ticket purchase is available for little league families.
The Suisman Shapiro Little League night featuring the Beaver Bat Home Run Derby is also the first 2010 event of the season when the Vault Productions crew from the on-going Speedbowl Documentary project will be at the track to document the night festivities and feature events.
